Alicante Tomato Plant – 9cm Pot

Alicante Tomato Plant – 9cm Pot

£1.15 Per Plant - 9cm Pot

Alicante Tomato Plant is a well-known variety famous for its reliability and productivity, with big trusses of medium-sized fruit with a pleasantly sweet flavour.

Alicante is early to mature, so you’re guaranteed a crop even in less-than-perfect levels of sun and is a good choice for growing outside once any sign of frost has passed although the best results are always achieved when grown in a greenhouse.

This high-yielding strain is a heritage variety that was introduced in 1925 and is also a deserving recipient of the RHS AGM award.

The fruits will be ready from approximately July to October and regularly picking the crop wil help to extend the harvesting season into early Autumn.

Great for grilling, pizzas, omelettes, salads, salsas, sauces, sandwiches or a snack straight from the vine!

Height: 150cm – 60in. Spread: 60cm – 24 in.

Description

Plant care

Alicante Tomato Plants require side-shooting and appropriate support as they grow.

Place outdoors once all risk of frost has passed.

Water the plants regularly, especially in periods of dry weather.

Fertilise tomato plants regularly with a high potash feed once the first truss has set.

All tomatoes require 8 hours of direct sunlight to grow and fruit well.

When choosing a sheltered, sunny location for your containerised tomato plants, look for a spot that isn’t shaded by a nearby building, roof, or trees.
