Potatoes like a well-drained, fine sandy loam soil, high in organic matter is preferred.
Heavy clay soils should be improved with organic matter and by adding aged manure or compost with supplementary sand to improve drainage. Be aware, applying too much manure can increase the incidence of potato scab.

Water well the day before moving. Firm in well after transplanting and ‘puddle’ in the plants with plenty of water (this means filling the hole with water several times before adding soil). When planting, set the lowest leaves at ground level

Seed Potato – Estima – Second Early is a versatile option for your allotment or veg patch.
Estima is a stock favourite on the supermarket shelves. If harvested early it is ideal for boiling or mashing, while leaving in the ground for longer, it produces wonderful baking potatoes.
A heavy cropper, the large oval tubers have a smooth skin, and pale yellow flesh that has a subtle flavour.
Cauliflowers do best in very fertile soil. Dig in well-rotted manure or organic matter before planting. Firm the soil by treading before planting
